Genetics of Hereditary Renal Cancer
Kim Hyun-Tae

Abstract
There are no familial history of renal cancer and no hereditary causes in most cases of renal cell carcinoma. Hereditary renal cancer accounts for approximately 2-4% of cases. Recognition of these renal cancer syndromes is important because of medical consequences for patients and their relatives. Generally, diagnosis of renal cancer in young age, multifocal and/or bilateral renal tumor, familial history of renal cancer and combination of different histological types of renal tumor can be suspected of hereditary renal cancer syndrome. And the histological type of the tumor and extrarenal symptoms may help to differentiate between specific renal cancer syndromes. For diagnosis of hereditary renal cancer syndromes detailed medical and family history with physical examination are very important. When a genetic predisposition for renal cancer is suspected, genetic examination and counselling are needed. This present review describe about hereditary renal cancer syndromes and different genetic conditions characterized by specific histological types of renal cancer and extrarenal symptoms
